Closing Banquet - Smashing Success!
The LMBL hosted their closing banquet and awards presentation at the Highland Country Club on Oct 18th - which included a pre-banquet learn-to-curl that was very well received and enjoyed by those who participated.

We are happy to report there were NO significant injuries on the day!

After curling concluded - everyone headed up to the banquet hall for a beverage or two, and to peruse the MANY raffle prizes and silent auction items that were available.

Our outgoing President Jamie Grenier MC'd the event - and although he talked A LOT, it was still a fun evening (jk - love you Jamie!).  There were several pieces of league business handled on the night, including the election of the 2026 executive positions - which saw a new President Named for 2026 (Brad Nuttall), along with speeches and a vote to nominate a new VP (congrats and welcome to the team John Noftle of the Expos).  The Past President position remained with Dale Crannie, and the Secretary/Treasurer role will remain with Korey Richardson.

Team awards were handed out on the evening, along with the respective league, division, and individual trophy winners for top pitcher and top hitter.  The Gerry Lane trophy was also handed out for exemplary contributions to the league in 2025.  The winners are noted here:

Regular Season Champions Blue Jays 13-2-1
A Division Champions Blue Jays
B Division Champions Brewers
B Consolation Winners Mets
Top Hitter Adam Gautreau Athletics 0.750 in 10 Games with 29 PA's
Top Pitcher Jinyeop Kim Blue Jays
0.000 in 12 games and 17 Innings
Gerry Lane Award Jarrett Kemshead Tigers Successfully Rebuilding the Tigers

We also discussed and approved the 2025 financials - which saw the league break even in 2025 - hooray!  Several items are expected to increase moderately in price next season (field rental, umpires), and the discussion on the league baseballs generated a lot of strong opinions.  When the dust settled - we were happy to announce we are keeping the league fees for 2026 the SAME as they were in 2025!  Boo-yah!

The new venue for hosting the closing banquet was well received in the survey results conducted that night.  The food was SPECTACULAR and the Highland staff were fantastic.  Although the event pricing was moderately more than our previous banquets, those in attendance felt the value for money was well worth it.  The location was appreciated- being in-town rather than outside the City limits - resulting in cheaper Uber rides home!  :-)  Unfortunately we aren't able to get on the golf course as part of our event - but we are still looking forward to returning to the Highland in 2026!

Here are some pictures of the curling for those interested:

A special thanks to Melissa Hopkins for coming out and taking these photos!

We hope to see even more guys out to the event in 2026.  Don't forget to pre-register for the banquet with your 2026 registration to get the best pricing AND to receive a special LMBL swag gift for doing so!

See you all in the spring!
